The Go-Ped Liquimatic model was first introduced in 1995. It is exactly the same as the Sport model, except for the addition of a centrifugal automatic transmission. With a Sport model Go-Ped, the drive spindle is always pressing on top of the tire. As the scooter comes to a stop, the engine kills. As the rider pushes forward again, the engine easily restarts. With the Liquimatic model, however, the engine remains running when stopped. The clutch disengages as the scooter comes to a stop, allowing the engine to idle. As the throttle is squeezed, the clutch re-engages and the scooter starts to move again. The Liquimatic accelerates slightly slower than the Sport - it takes a moment for the clutch to re-engage, resulting in less "off the line" power. The top speed of both models is the same. We recommend the Liquimatic model for riders under 10 years old or under 90 lbs, or for anyone else wanting a scooter simple to operate. Why? Kick-starting the Sport model is difficult for lighter riders. For those who plan to have a lot of stop and go use, or plan to use the Tow-Ped Trailer, the Liquimatic is the model for you. Also, most people who just want to cruise around easily and comfortably prefer the Liquimatic over the Sport.

For those who plan to use a Go-Ped mainly for recreation and fun, it is best to go with the original Sport model. The acceleration is a little better, it is cheaper, and the throttle response is a little quicker.
